ART NOUVEAU

Poster for Rajah coffee, Henri Meunier, Lithograph, 1897

This poster is relevant to the Art Nouveau style as it has the same natural lineart that this art period is known for. The artwork is also flatter, with a thicker outline and hand-drawn type. As is the case with many art nouveau pieces, this poster also features a beautiful woman. This work differs from other examples as it has a much more flatter tone. The background is one flat color, and while the color palette resembles earth tones, it's much bolder and focuses heavily on red tones. This piece stood out to me due to the fact that it is a poster for coffee. This serves as an advertisement and successfully sells the coffee as a higher class than others.
